Oggie Ergo Hockey Grip
June 05, 2008
What is an Oggie Ergo Grip?
Most
hockey stick shafts are rectangular. This rectangular
shape was not designed to fit comfortably in your
hand. Rectangular sticks were made for one purpose
only, to manufacture 1000's of hockey sticks! Oggie
manufactures hockey stick grips thinking about YOU,
the player. Oggie makes a hi-tech grip specifically
TO FIT COMFORTABLY IN YOUR HAND. You insert the Ergo
Composite Hockey Stick End-Plug into hollow composite
hockey sticks with supplied hot melt glue, just like
a replacement wood end plug.

- For Hollow Composite Sticks Only!
- Adult, Intermediate, and Youth stick grip sizes available
- USA Hockey Legal!
- Designed for ice, street, and inline hockey
- Patent pending ergonomically designed grip
- Developed for comfort and style like no other grip on the market today
- Perfect complement to today's high end composite sticks
- Available in a multitude of colors to match many sticks
- Safer and softer butt end than tape
- Comes with grip, helmet sticker, and installation instructions
- Provides 6 1/2" (16.51 cm) extension
Oggie Ergo Grips are a bit more rounded and slightly narrower than a rectangular stick shaft, just like a shaved grip. For most people, this shaved feel is great. But if you have a larger hand and want to bulk up an Oggie Grip, you simply wrap the grip with a cohesive or cloth tape to make the grip feel larger. When you tape it, you get the same curved grip which is designed to fit your hand more naturally than a rectangular stick shaft, as well as having Oggie's exclusive Flex-Point built in. Oggie grips also feel a bit more "grippy" in your hand than most tapes. If this "grippy" feel is what you are looking for in a grip, then insert your Oggie Grip and play some hockey! If you like a less "grippy feel, many players also put tape over Oggie Grips so they can slide their hand on and off the grip more easily.

Gear Drop
November 30, 2007
The Stats
Gear Drop is a valet-style hockey equipment storage and drying service located on the ground floor of Burnaby 8 Rinks. Instead of lugging your equipment to and from the rink, simply show up, grab your bag and return it after your game is complete.
A Gear Drop customer comes prior to their game to receive their hockey equipment bag, and returns their bag after their game is complete. Gear Drop monitors players schedules online so their bag is always ready and waiting before each game, players don’t even have to think about it.
At the end of each evening all bags are transported from Gear Drop to our secure warehouse where equipment is properly aired out (using industrial fans, dehumidifiers, ozone generator and HEPA Filters) and stored. This air purification set up reduces odors and destroys some mold, mildew and bacteria with no harmful chemicals or scents left behind. Don’t worry, there is still a hint of hockey to it!
Each equipment bag is electronically tagged and tracked so that we can guarantee that no item will be subject to theft or be lost.
The Review
An absolutely amazing service and idea! Pick it up, play, drop it off. No hassle, no lugging your gear to your car and no more smell in your house! Owner / founder Jill is a pleasure to deal with and customer service is excellent! At first we were skeptical, but those doubts were put to bed the first time we picked up our gear. Every piece of equipment came back and was neatly organized in the bag. The jerseys were even folded! Gear was bone dry and smelt better than if you aired it out yourself.
We were so please we signed up for the 8 month unlimited package for $200 + GST. Add 15% if you want to leave your sticks. Currently have a Christmas Special for 4 months of unlimited use for $99.
Gear Drop is a must have service if you live in a small apartment or your wife / girlfriend can't stand the smell. Visit www.geardrop.ca for more info.

Oakley Hockey Visor
November 21, 2007
The Stats
The Oakley hockey visor is the only visor that meets and exceeds the demanding standard for optical clarity. Provides distortion-free optics through the entire range of vision. Providing a nearly impenetrable barrier for your eyes against on-coming objects. Oakley Visor surpasses the standard for impact resistance and provides shatter-proof protection. Every Oakley Visor is coated with AFR, a specially formulated coating that provides anti-fog and scratch resistance properties to the polycarbonate visor, which ensures unsurpassed clarity and durability in any temperature condition.
Polaric Ellipsoid™ Geometry
Oakley’s patented Polaric Ellipsoid™ geometry maintains visual clarity at all angles of view, even at the edges of raked-back lens contours that maximize peripheral vision and protection. Conventional eyewear bends light rays and distorts vision at the lens periphery, but Polaric Ellipsoid™ geometry maps the full lens contour to the human eye, ensuring razor-sharp vision at all angles.
Plutonite® Lens Material
All Oakley Visors are injection molded from impact-resistant Plutonite®, an optically superior material that inherently blocks 100% of all UV light and harmful blue light.
The Review
The hockey visor has been a hot debate lately. Should NHL players be made to wear one or should it be left to the individual? There are arguments for both sides, but the main argument against is that visors distorted vison, scratched easily and were always fogging up.
But then a company known for their buggy eyewear and sunglasses entered the hockey market. Oakley making visors for hockey helmets might seem like a logical jump to some. But they didn’t just decide that they could do it because they knew how to make sunglasses. When was the last time that you had to consider the impact of a six-ounce piece of rock hard rubber traveling at 80 miles per hour when buying sunglasses?
Rather than jumping in feet first, Oakley acquired 1-Excel Sports. 1-Excel was already a leader in hockey visors, gloves and shafts. Oakley dropped the shafts, ramped up the face shield war and doesn’t make a bad glove either.
We tested the Pro Aviator
model, worn by pros such as Markus Naslund and
Daniel Briere and put it on a Bauer 4000 helmet,
a very common configuration. The minute we
stepped on the ice we noticed the clarity. The
visor lived up to the hype and provided
undistorted vision of the ice. The visor was
pretty much perfect and the anti fog has lived
up to it's name to. Despite some fogging on the
upper half while sitting on the bench, that
quickly disappeared when you jumped on for your
next shift and got some air rushing through.
After about 30 men's league games, the visor has with stood some abuse, including a few high sticks and a collision with a teammate. Despite gathering some scratches due to sticks, the visor has no signs of swirl marks typical of a cheaper visor and has kept it's undistorted clarity. Although we do recommend to keep it in a helmet bag with in your hockey bag with the rest of your gear.
Overall, probably the best visor money can buy, retailing for about $99, which is a little steep, but well worth protecting your vision. We definitely recommend getting this if your are looking for a top of the line visor.
