Parade to Box Leads to Loss

The XM Radio Prowlers got off to a good start on Monday night, but a rash of penalties and a consistent parade to the box resulted in a mid-game collapse and a loss to the Sutton Selects. Colin Giles opened the scoring at 7:40 of the first with a nifty little move in the slot to slide the puck past their tender. The Selects tied the game up a couple minutes later on the powerplay with captain Chad Scott sitting in the box for hooking.

The Prowlers then got goals from Mike Taylor and Peter Koulouris to take a two goal lead into the 2nd. But a determined Sutton team managed another powerplay goal and a shorthanded marker to tie the game at 3 heading into the final frame. Frustration set in with XM in the 3rd with some undisciplined play coupled with some borderline calls. 47 mins of penalties were called in the 2nd, 36 belonging to the Prowlers. The Selects capitalized again on the powerplay, pocketing 2 more for the win.

Spending most of the 3rd on the penalty kill was not how the Prowlers envisioned the period, and a different attitude will be needed next week when XM takes on MOFO and the Kodiaks on Tuesday and Thursday.
