The XM Radio Prowlers stretched their unbeaten streak
to a team record 8 games with a 4-2 win over the
Usual Prospects Monday night at Burnaby 8 rinks.
The Prospects were the only team the Prowlers hadn't beaten in the division, gathering a 2-2 tie the last time they met. That tie was the start of the amazing streak, defeating every other team in the division and then completing the cycle Monday night with a convincing win.
Four different players got in on the scoring as Jeff Buder, Peter Koulouris, Mike Taylor and Brendan Wilson each got a gino.
After having a 10 day rest since their last game, the Prowlers came out a little flat in the first, giving up the first goal 10 minutes in. The Prowlers replied in the last minute of the period on the powerplay, when Trevor Hay found Buder wide open in front of net, tapping in a backhand for his third of the year.
Koulouris then made it 2-1 with a great individual effort, fighting players off like Britney Spears fighting off the paparazzi, to snap a shot top corner. The Prospects tied it at 2 before the end of 2nd on a garbage goal after the puck hit a d-man in front and bounced onto the tape of a Prospect player.
XM found another gear in the 3rd when Mike Taylor put a wrist shot top corner for the game winner and Brendan Wilson banked one in for some insurance to give the Prowlers their 7th straight win and 8th in a row undefeated.
"We're just enjoying the ride right now" says defenseman Jeff Duncan who gathered an assist in the win. "Howie is playing great, the forwards are getting the job done and us d-men are limiting the other team's chances. It's a fun time right now,"
