New Warm-Up Drills and Breakout!

During the Prowlers team meeting, it was motioned and passed that our pre-game warm-up be changed. The members in attendance agreed on the following two warm-up drills. It was also discussed that we should have at least a "default" breakout play to get out of our own end. We're not trying to get into super competitive mode with set plays for every situation or an entire system, but everyone agreed that with the ever changing line combinations, it would be nice to have a standard breakout.

The Prowlers added to their Farm Team roster this week, adding defenceman Tim Mooney to the call-up list. With all-star D-men Greg Clark out with a shoulder injury, team captain Chad Scott nursing a sore knee and Drew McLean still recovering from off-season knee surgery, Mooney, a former college teammate of Peter Koulouris, brings some much needed depth to the blueline.

The Vancouver Prowlers Men's rec hockey team promoted tough guy Trevor McLean to a full-time position on Wednesday. McLean, who played on the Farm Team last season, is filling in the void left by the other McLean; Drew. Drew recently had knee surgery and will not be ready until a few games into the season. He will play on the Farm when his knee is ready and Trevor will take a more active role.

Taylor Agrees to Terms

The XM Radio Prowlers have avoided arbitration and come to terms with restricted free agent centre Mike Taylor. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not released. Taylor had filed for an arbitration hearing last week and one was scheduled for a hearing in the coming weeks. That hearing was successfully avoided with the two parties settling on a reported 2-year deal. Although he had a slow start, Taylor had a breakout season last year with the Prowlers garnishing 21 goals and 17 assists in 29 games. The XM Radio Prowlers will have 2 more players returning from last season's championship roster. Centre Jay Young and backup goaltender Dean Kuntz both came to an agreement with the club on Wednesday. Keeping with club policy, terms are not disclosed. Young, who is also the club's Director of Scouting, had 8 points in 18 games (4-4-8) last season. Jay was part of the ill-fated Speedwagon team, that was brought out of bankruptcy in 2006 and moved to Vancouver, eventually renamed the Prowlers.
