Damn Beavers!

The XM Radio Prowlers tried to mount a comeback
Monday night, but fell short, losing 5-4 to the Evil
Beavers. The dramatic 3rd period push was too little,
too late as the Prowlers have lost 4 of their last 5
games.
The Beavers had some speedy forwards, and proved it early with some great chances including when a Beaver forward powered around the Prowler defensemen to fire a shot top corner, only to be denied my the glove of Mike Howie. Howie made some other monstrous saves, but Beavers were too much in the 1st, taking a 2-0 lead.
XM got off to a better start in the 2nd, getting more quality chances. Mike Taylor capitalized on one of those chances at the 7:05 mark, buried a backhand shot, set up by a great pass from Trevor Hay. The Prowlers seemed to have righted the ship, but fell asleep at the helm in the last minute of the 2nd, giving up 2 goals and falling behind 4-1.
The boys in black dug down deep in the 3rd and their hard work paid off when Dave Parrot scored his 6th of the season from the slot. Then after the Beaver goalie took a 4 minute slashing penalty, Prowlers leading powerplay goal scorer, Pete Koulouris, added to that tallied with his 4th PPG of the year to bring XM within one.
But Beaver replied a minute later to restore the 2 goal lead. Then in the last minute, Brendan Wilson banked one in from behind the net with 34 seconds left. After a timeout and with Howie pulled, the Prowlers tried to tie the game, but fell short, losing another close 1 goal game.
"It was a good effort." says forward Trevor Hay. "We let our guard down in the 2nd and it cost us. But give them full credit, they played us pretty hard tonight, we just need to find a way to be that much better."
With a 1-4-0 record in their last 5 games, critics are saying this might be the time for the Prowlers to hit the panic button. Mike Howie disagrees.
"We've been in every game. It's not like we're being blown out of the water. We're just haven't been getting the bounces the last few games."
The Prowlers will look for more favorable bounces Friday vs the 4-13-2 Ice Storm.
