Place was up for grabs Friday night when the Prowlers
took on the All Blacks in a titanic battle. These two
evenly matched teams seemed to be spitting images of
each other. Both with fast, skilled forwards, large
defense and their equal share of diggers and
grinders.
The Blacks opened the scoring at 6:56 of the first when Mike Howie couldn't handle a fluttering puck and a Black player snuck behind the the defense and popped the rebound home. XM tied it up at 12:10, when Jeff Buder was credited for his 2nd of the season from Colin Giles.
The Prowlers took a quick 2-1 lead 37 seconds into 2nd when Jay Young intercepted a pass on the blue line and found Pete Koulouris who fired a wrist shot to beat their goalie on the far side. XM were on their heels for the rest of the second as the All Blacks took their hard forecheck against the Prowlers resulting in 2 quick goals and a 3-2 lead heading into the third.
The Prowlers found their game in the 3rd and peppered their goalie, with shot after shot the puck bounced and hopped and their flopping tender managed to keep to disk out of the net. The Prowl were all over the other guys, but just couldn't find the back of the net and ended up losing their best match up to date.
