Prowlers Rally to Beat Allblacks

Dave Parrott scored twice and added an assist as the XM Radio Prowlers completed a dramatic comeback in the 3rd to beat the EV Allblacks Thursday night and stretch their unbeaten streak to 7 games.

Trevor McLean and Tim Mooney also scored for the red-hot Prowlers. The line of Parrott, Daryl Goeson and McLean combined for 8 points.

After giving up the first goal of the game at the 9:55 mark of the first, XM responded 10 seconds later when Parrott streaked down the left side and fed a pass to McLean in front, who was stopped on his first attempt but made good on the rebound, banking the puck of the goalie from behind the net.

The 2nd period was a see-saw battle, with both goalies holding their ground, but one slipped past Mike Howie for the only goal in the frame. The Allblacks then got another 25 seconds into the 3rd on a broken play beside the Prowlers net to take a 2 goal lead.

That seemed to awaken the beast, and the Prowlers smelt blood when an Allblack went off for a slash on Brendan Wilson, resulting in a 4 minute powerplay for the good guys.

XM took full advantage, when Parrot redirected a slap shot off the stick of Chad Scott to hit both posts and in the net. With 2 minutes still left in the double-minor, the Prowlers tied the game when defenceman Tim Mooney teed up a won face-off by Mike Taylor to blast a bullet in the top corner.

With the game all tied up, and the momentum in the Prowlers favour, the boys in black with the gold and white trim, completed the comeback when Parrott tipped another shot, this time from McLean, between his legs and through the goaltender for his second of the night and the game winner.

"We showed some perseverance and came back to get the 2 points." said forward Brendan Wilson. "It was a real character builder and we'll try to take this momentum into the next game."

The seven game undefeated streak is the momentum Wilson was referring to, as the streak is put on the line where is all started 7 games ago against the Usual Suspects. On October 29th, the Prowlers gave up a 2 goal lead in the 3rd and had to settle for a 2-2 tie versus the Suspects.

But the Prowlers haven't looked back since, winning their last 6 games and will be looking for redemption on Monday, December 17th.
