Late Collapse Leads to Loss

The XM Radio Prowlers looked like they were in control Thursday night, but a late game collapse and questionable penalty call put the Prowlers on the losing side of a 6-4 game against Tribe Canada.

With goalie Mike Howie on maternity leave, backup Dean Kuntz got the start for XM, facing 29 shots over 3 periods, team point leader Pete Koulouris scored another 2 goals, captain Chad Scott extended his point streak to 9 games and defenceman Jeff Duncan got his first goal of the year.

After swapping goals in the first and second periods, the Prowlers fell behind 3-2 early in the third. Koulouris then made good on one of his many chances of the night, snapping a shot over the goalie’s glove to tie the game.

Duncan then gave the Prowlers their first lead of the night, finishing off a great play from Pat Dogherty and Colin Giles. Although the goal was credited to Giles, Duncan finally netted his first of the year.

Tribe responded quickly to take back the lead under a minute later. A questionable holding call was then made on Koulouris, and Tribe made the Prowlers pay, scoring on the man advantage proving to be the game winner. They would then add an empty netter for good measure.
