Season Comes to an End

Despite a valiant effort, the XM Radio Prowlers Hockey Club lost to Satan in the semi-finals Thursday night, putting an abrupt end to their season.

After a scoreless first frame, XM took a 1-0 lead when Jay Young slipped a breakaway pass to Pat Dogherty, who calmly skated in and tuck one between the legs of the Satan goaltender. The Prowlers own goalie Mike Howie kept it 1-0 with some outstanding saves and was determined to keep it that way.

Missing 4 key players, including 2 of their 3 top scorers, due to injury, the Prowlers kept the pressure coming. But penalty trouble in the 3rd cost the Prowlers as Satan replied with 3 powerplay goals in the first 5 minutes of the period. The boys in black with the yellow and white trim kept coming and had a 4 minute man advantage of their own, but despite some fabulous chances they couldn't get another past the Satan goalie.

Satan added an empty netter for good measure and put an end to the Prowlers bid to repeat as division champions.

"It was a great game, everyone played their asses off." says Prowlers Captain & GM Chad Scott. "We had the jump, we had the desire, but we just couldn't get the puck in the net. Even though we didn't repeat as champions, it was a very successful year. We finished with a 16-11-2-1 record, had the lowest goals allowed in the division and knocked off the #2 seed in the playoffs. In many ways we are the team to beat and the guys in the room should be proud"

The XM Radio Prowlers would like to thank those who supported the team for 2007-08 season, including our title sponsor XM Satellite Radio Canada.
