Time for Change?

After an embarrassing loss Saturday night, serious questions now surround the Prowlers Hockey Club. With only one win in their last 5 games, the team has a dismal 4-7 record. A complete reversal from their division winning 23-8-1 record only 2 seasons ago.

A shake up of line combinations over the past few games has proven fruitless and the absence of goaltender Mike Howie has only compounded problems on the ice.

The lack of production has lead some to speculate that General Manager/Coach Chad Scott is on the way out. Ownership has been rumoured to have been in contact with newly available GM Brian Burke. Although Burke has stated his desire to relocate to the East, Vancouver is a familiar place and his wife Jennifer would be comfortable returning to the city.

"I haven't heard about that" said Scott, commenting on the Burke hearsay. "I am still in charge of this team until I am told otherwise. I am committed to making this a winning team and bringing another division title to the organization"

When asked about the current slump, Scott acknowledged that the team has been underperforming and was optimistic that they would turn the team's fortunes.

Pat Quinn and John Tortorella have also been rumored to have been contacted by the team to over take coaching duties and possibly GM responsibilities. Agents for both did not immediately return calls.

"We need to start playing more as a team" says winger Dan Marcheen. "Get back to basics and keep things simple. Win the small battles and we'll win the war"

The next of those battles is this coming Saturday against the Goodfellas.
