Unusual Suspects Give Prowlers Hot Start

The
Vancouver Prowlers are off to their best start since
their inaugural 2006-07 season, tallying up three
convincing wins so far this month. Not a surprise to
those close to the team, but what is surprising is
those leading the charge.
Everyone is use to seeing Pete Koulouris leading the division with 4 goals and 2 assists in 3 games, and goalie Mike Howie stopping rubber for a 1.33 GAA with a shutout. But having grinder Dan Marcheen start with a game-winning goal and 3 assists is a welcomed addition to the score sheet considering he tallied only 10 points in 25 games last season.
Likewise for newly crowned team captain Steve Hopson, as he has answered the call starting the campaign with a sizzling 2 goals and 3 assists to chase Koulouris with 5 points.
It's the secondary scoring that the Prowlers will need to sustain a deep playoff run.
"With the departure of Mike Taylor and Brendan Wilson back on the blueline, we needed to fill the void left upfront" said Hopson.
"There are a couple new faces in the lineup this year, but what we need are the veterans to step up to the plate and I think we have seen that so far with the play of Dan, Trevor McLean and Dave Parrott"
If there were any questions regarding this team before the season, they have been answered and the nay-sayers silenced as the Prowlers have showed strong 2-way play with 13 goals for and only 4 against.
Howie and company take their undefeated record up against the River Sharks (2-1-0) this coming Monday.
